How to Search the Coweta County Court Docket
Name the court first, then the county. In Coweta County, State Court takes county-limited civil, criminal, and traffic matters. Superior Court covers felony, domestic, and broad civil cases. Juvenile, Probate, Magistrate, municipal, and federal courts each keep their own records. So no single index reaches them all. The county's official Case Management Search/Copies page steers readers toward the Coweta State Court route. The State Court disclaimer names the search paths by party, associated party, and case number.
A docket search goes smoothly when you already know the court level. The party spelling, the case number, and a rough filing or hearing date help too. A calendar PDF can list a setting while showing nothing else in the register. A provider login may display filing activity yet still not be the official real-time docket. Whatever you find, note the source and the search date alongside the result.
- Identify whether the matter belongs to State, Superior, Juvenile, Probate, Magistrate, municipal, or federal court.
- Open the official county or court route and choose the search path that matches the court, party, associated party, case number, or citation.
- Compare the result with the court name, case number, parties, filing entries, and setting information.
- Check the newest calendar or amendment order when the result includes a hearing date.
- Ask the correct clerk for a copy, certification, or confirmation when the online route is incomplete.
Think of the county route as a starting point for public access, not a promise that one index holds every court. A city citation and a federal case each need their own branch.
Coweta Search Portal Access Gap
The Coweta State Court posts a disclaimer page carrying a notice dated August 20, 2026. Its direct search routes did not work. SearchByParty, SearchByAParty, and SearchByCaseNumber all failed to load a usable form. Some redirects bounced; others threw an error. Treat this as a technical access gap rather than a signal about any case. A broken route tells you nothing about sealing, absence, or closure. Start with the official State Court disclaimer for the current notice and route names. If the search form will not load, phone the right clerk with your details. Have the court, party name, case number, citation, and date handy. The disclaimer itself displays 770-254-2690. The State Court Clerk page, meanwhile, lists Sheila W. Echols's office at 770-254-2699. Those are two different county-office references. So confirm the live number and office before you trust either one. Superior Court records run through a different door. The Georgia Courts eAccess map sends Coweta Superior filings to PeachCourt. PeachCourt's public login offers only email, password, Forgot Password, and Register controls. There are no open case fields. So a provider account may be required even where a public docket or clerk route exists.
What a Court Docket Shows
A docket or case-management register tracks the procedural life of a case, nothing more. Coweta sample calendars use fields like case number, report, item, cause, filing date, judge, location, parties, counsel, settings, remarks, and comments. A criminal calendar may add count, offense, and code fields. None of those labels, standing alone, proves a conviction. None proves a final judgment or any present outcome either.
| Case number | One court-assigned identifier. A Superior sample uses 2025-SU-V-6-CJB; the Clerk should confirm what each local segment means. |
|---|---|
| Report and item | A report groups a listed calendar setting, while an item marks a position on that report. |
| Parties and counsel | Party roles, attorney or pro se status, and the court or case style may appear beside the setting. |
| Filing and cause | The filing date shows when an entry reached the record. A civil cause is a short description, not the full pleading. |
| Settings and remarks | Date, time, judge, location, setting type, continuance notes, and system-origin comments can appear on a calendar. |
| Disposition | A docket event may show a plea, order, dismissal, judgment, or other status, but the full document may live in the court file. |
Context gives the labels meaning. "ARR" marks an arraignment setting, "CR MOT" a criminal motion calendar, and "CV NJ" a civil non-jury category. A report or calendar line is not a certified copy of the pleading or order.
Coweta Docket, Calendar, and File Layers
Coweta's Court Services Division draws a distinction worth memorizing. PeachCourt and Odyssey eFileGA are not the official court docket. A provider can carry a filing, and a calendar can carry a setting. The clerk maintains the case register and file behind both. One civil status sample carries the note "CREATED FROM IMPORT FROM PEACHCOURT." That shows system origin only. It does not turn the provider into the official real-time register. The Georgia Courts navigation source lays out the statewide structure behind these separate Coweta court layers.
The hierarchy matters. A county docket search cannot replace a municipal, juvenile, probate, or federal access route.
Each of the three layers answers a different question. The docket or register tells you what procedural events were recorded. The calendar tells you when a matter was set and where it was called. The document file holds the pleadings, motions, orders, exhibits, and copies. So a public search can locate a case. A separate request is still needed for a certified order.
When a result looks thin, compare the court's case-management route with its current calendar index. Then ask the clerk whether a filed document, archived item, or certified copy is available. That sequence keeps you from mistaking an e-filing receipt or a lone calendar PDF for the whole record. The Coweta Court Services explanation matters most for Superior civil records and provider-origin notes. It separates where a filing was submitted from where the official docket is kept.
Which Courts Keep Dockets
Coweta has several trial-court classes. No one county search covers every case. The court hierarchy decides the custodian, the calendar, and the access route. Federal cases sit physically in Newnan, but they are not Coweta county dockets. The county's official court map shows why a building name alone never identifies a docket.
The Justice Center, Juvenile Court Center, Historic Courthouse, Accountability Courts, and federal building all serve different record systems.
| Court | Docket covers | Where to start |
|---|---|---|
| Superior Court | Felony criminal, domestic, general civil, and broad trial matters | Niki Sewell, Court Services, and the PeachCourt provider map |
| State Court | County misdemeanors, traffic, warrants, preliminary matters, and civil matters outside Superior | Sheila Echols and Case Management Search/Copies |
| Juvenile Court | Delinquency, dependency, truancy, unruly or CHINS matters | Juvenile clerk and authorized access at the Juvenile Court Center |
| Probate Court | Estates, guardianships, licenses, and other probate proceedings | Probate clerk at the Historic Courthouse |
| Magistrate Court | Warrants, minor matters, and civil claims up to $15,000 | Magistrate office and its nCourt filing route |
| Municipal courts | City traffic and ordinance matters, with local misdemeanor authority | The issuing city's court clerk or payment/search portal |
| Federal courts | Federal civil, criminal, and bankruptcy matters | PACER and Northern District of Georgia or Bankruptcy Court systems |
The Georgia Courts structure guide explains the statewide roles, and Coweta's local court map then supplies the building and clerk details. Confirm the court before running a name search. A city ticket, a State Court traffic matter, and a federal case can share a location without sharing a docket.
Coweta State Court Counter and Copies
Sheila W. Echols is the State Court Clerk. This elected Coweta County official maintains State Court civil, criminal, and traffic case-management records, along with filings, proceedings, monies, and calendars. The counter sits inside the Justice Center. Its address is 72 Greenville Street, Newnan, Georgia 30263, and mailed items go to P.O. Box 884. Weekday hours run 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office phone is 770-254-2699. The Superior Clerk page posts details for the separate records counter that serves Superior Court matters.
That division of labor matters when you request copies. Send the request to whichever clerk actually holds the State Court file, or the copy fee schedule may not match. The State Court copy page separates ordinary copies from certified, exemplified, fax, electronic, and retrieved material. Ordinary copies run $0.50 per page unassisted. With assistance the price becomes $1 per page. Certified and exemplified copies carry a $2.50 stamp or seal plus $0.50 for each additional page, with exemplified copies adding $1 per seal. Fax or electronic copies cost $2.50 for the first page and $1 for each additional page, while retrieval of stored material is listed at $5. Ask for the right authentication the first time.

Fee schedules can change. Confirm before you pay. Ask whether the request needs ordinary, certified, or exemplified authentication, since the clerk can explain access steps and published charges but cannot give legal advice or choose a legal response. A Superior record request goes to Niki Sewell's office and Court Services instead. One State Court fee is not county-wide.
Finding Court Dates and Settings
A Coweta court date is just a calendar setting. An older PDF does not control the current docket. Match the case number and court to the newest county calendar index, then look for a continuance, transfer, cancellation, reassignment, or emergency-closure notice. When a case shows no current date, the clerk or Court Services can say which published calendar applies.
The Coweta County court calendar walkthrough explains dates, times, locations, judges, and setting labels. Municipal courts run on their own rhythms. Federal dates live in PACER or CM/ECF. Always confirm the setting with the responsible court before you appear.
Coweta Calendar Labels and Settings
The county's 2026 State Court master calendar leans on short labels. Read each one with its court and date. `INTER ARR` marks interpreter arraignment, while `ARR` is a plain arraignment and `JAIL` a jail-related setting. Two DUI labels appear: `DUI TEAM` and `DUI COURT`. `CR MOT` means criminal motions, and `CR BT` a criminal bench trial. Civil entries round out the list. `CV PT` covers civil pretrial, `CV NJ` civil non-jury. `CV/CR JT` marks a civil or criminal jury-trial category.
- Report
- A calendar grouping or report number, not necessarily a separate case.
- Item
- The position assigned to a matter on a report.
- Setting
- A scheduled court appearance or calendar event, not a final result.
- Reset or continuance
- A date change that must be read with the newest order or calendar.
- Disposition
- A procedural outcome or status event that should be confirmed against the full record.
Newnan municipal sessions follow their own local pattern. Palmetto runs virtual hearings through iCourt. The county calendar index links State and Superior categories plus special settings, amended dates, transfers, continuances, cancellations, and emergency postings. When a calendar and a case result disagree, trust the newest version.
Public Access to Dockets
Georgia access rules start with a presumption. Public court records can be inspected, subject to law, procedure, court order, and protected information. The Georgia Open Records Act has a limit. The State Court Clerk explains that the Act does not require an office to create a new report or compilation that does not already exist. That matters for a docket request. Asking for an existing docket, calendar, order, or copy is more precise than asking for a new analysis.
Key access rules:
Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. §50-18-71 sets the custodian and inspection framework described by the State Court Clerk.
O.C.G.A. §50-18-72 covers exemptions identified in Coweta's public records request portal.
Uniform Superior Court Rule 21 starts with public access but allows a specific sealing or access-limiting order when the legal standard is met.
O.C.G.A. §35-3-37 governs the Georgia record-restriction overview for qualifying criminal-history information.
Rule 21.6 also covers protected identifiers. Juvenile records fall under Article 9 confidentiality, and federal sealed documents are not public through PACER. A missing result proves nothing. A 404, 403, wrong court, or provider outage is not proof that a record is sealed.
Coweta Judge Rotation and Intake
Coweta's State Court assignment order uses a rotation. New cases go randomly and equally to three named State Court judges. The Clerk monitors the rotation. No one exercises discretion in the assignment. The order covers new civil filings and Magistrate petitions routed into State Court beginning September 1, 2024. That mechanism explains why a case can carry a judge or division label before a later calendar shows the next setting.
A later criminal assignment order adds a pre-docket step. From November 10, 2025, uniform traffic citations, warrants, and warrantless affidavits received by the State Clerk get a unique tracking number before docketing. The materials then pass through Solicitor or Traffic Violations Bureau classification and the applicable judge rotation. The intake number is not a case number. Treat the two as separate. They predict nothing about any person's case. To verify an assignment, use the current case-management record, the calendar, or the clerk's office. The civil assignment order and the criminal assignment order should be read in their current versions.
The Clerk and Docket Records
Coweta County splits its clerk duties. Niki Sewell serves as Superior Court Clerk. Her office shares work with Court Services at 72 Greenville Street. Together they handle Superior civil and criminal filings, calendars, case services, and copies. The Superior Clerk line is 770-254-2690. Court Services is 770-254-2695, and both keep weekday hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Probate, Juvenile, Magistrate, and the municipal courts each hold their own records. Each court keeps its own clerks.
That split explains many failed name searches. A Probate filing, a confidential Juvenile matter, a Magistrate claim, a Newnan citation, or a federal bankruptcy case never turns into a State Court record just because it arose in Coweta. So name the court, the record type, and the holder. Do that before you ask for a copy.
The Superior Clerk page also draws a useful line between procedural help and legal advice. Staff can tell you where to file. They can share what a published fee costs and how to request a copy. They cannot tell a self-represented person which motion or plea to choose. That choice stays with you.
Coweta Records Request Path
Coweta's Open Records portal handles requests for records the county already holds. It is not a case index. It also does not replace the State, Superior, municipal, Probate, Juvenile, or federal clerk. When a clerk already keeps the docket or file you need, start with that office's search or counter.
A good request is specific. Name the court, the case number or date range, the record type, the calendar or document wanted, and the format. The portal cites O.C.G.A. sections 50-18-71 and 50-18-72. Coweta warns that production costs may apply after the first 15 minutes, and requests over $25 need an estimate first. Exemptions can limit what gets released, and no agency must build a compilation that never existed.
Want a filed order or a certified docket? State the authentication you need up front. Courtroom recordings go through the local Rule 22 process, which asks for the case, courtroom, portion of the proceeding, device, timing, requester, contact details, and the judge's order. Open courtroom access never means unrestricted recording or copying.
Coweta Municipal Docket Branches
Coweta's annual report lists nine municipalities. The five largest by 2020 Census citywide counts get their own profiles here. A citation can land in a city court instead of the Coweta State Court TVB. Newnan runs JusticeONE. Palmetto uses iCourt, which offers virtual hearings, and Senoia uses EZCourtPay. Grantville uses GovernmentWindow. Chattahoochee Hills lists TicketFastPay plus GovernmentWindow signals. Confirm those with its clerk.
What these systems search varies. Palmetto's iCourt fields cover first name, middle name, last name, date of birth, and Search. Coweta PayYourTix works as a State Court payment lookup. It takes case, citation, last-name, and conditional driver-license fields. Treat a payment portal as a payment tool, not a full county register.
If a city route stalls, call that city's court clerk. Keep the citation number, your name, and the court date at hand. Add any payment or appearance instruction. A case can move past the municipal tier. Then go back to the right Coweta State or Superior route.
Court Dockets by City in Coweta County
The ranking here comes from citywide 2020 Census counts. It is not a current population estimate. Nor does it claim every resident or land area sits inside Coweta County. Palmetto and Chattahoochee Hills need extra care because of neighboring-county and boundary context. Each municipal court keeps its own citation and ordinance path. The city match matters as much as the county one.
The Probate Court source shows another Coweta access point at the Historic Courthouse. That access point sits fully separate from the city citation systems.
Match the physical place, the court class, and the record holder before you start any city or county search.
